This optional Theft Deterrent System permanently engraves a unique, traceable ID number onto various general areas of your vehicle. The ID is registered in a national database, helping law enforcement identify and recover your vehicle.

Because the etching cannot be removed without damaging or replacing the marked component, it acts as a visual deterrent—especially for thieves. And if your vehicle is stolen and not recovered within 30 days, you're entitled to a limited warranty benefit as outlined in your contract3. Some insurance providers may even offer discounts for vehicles with this type of protection.

Product Overview

Vehicle theft is fast and costly—but the DataDot System can help protect your vehicle. The DataDot System is a state-of-the-art identification system that marks your vehicle and key components with thousands of microscopic dots, leaving a permanent, unique PIN (personal identification number).

The DataDot System is safely applied in multiple locations using a water-based adhesive and a foam applicator, making them difficult to detect or remove. Once applied, the PIN is registered with the Insurance Services Organization (ISO) and the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), adding a layer of traceability.

If your vehicle is stolen and not recovered within 30 days, you may be eligible for a benefit of up to $500 depending on your plan selected.1

Important Legal Information

2. You may transfer the contract to another owner, but not to another vehicle.

3. You must report the theft of your vehicle to the police within 24 hours, and you must notify the Administrator within 30 working days of the theft.
